Aged Travellers
Instead of the bus we departed the hotel by boat. The hotel is built on the banks of Lake Titicaca, so it was short walk to the end of the pier where our boat was waiting. First of all it took us to the Floating Islands iand we given a talk on how these islands were made. The island we went to was a tourist demonstration island. Never the less after the previous 4 days this was very pleasant and relaxing. The weather continues to be delightful, warm and very sunny. The boat then took us to one of the permanent islads where we had lunch. The restaurant was a shack with a compressed earth courtyard. We sat on planks of wood resting on wooden supports covered witha piece of fabric. To get to this restaurant we had to walk half way up a very steep hill. However, let this take nothing away from quality of the lunch. We had a local soup and trout from the lake and it was delicious. The return journey was siesta time. Back to dry land and straight on to the coach for the a visit to some old Inca tombs. By now it was getting dark and much cooler aggravated by gale force winds Not exactly ideal conditions for looking at a whole series of round towers. Glad to be back at the hotel. Meal in the restaurant again but learnt my lesson. Starter and pudding sufficed.
