1 August, we check our crab pot before we depart Cooktown. We've got one, its male, but it's not legal size, so back in he goes.
We head south via the Bloomfield track. This track winds its way into the Daintree Rainforest, with quite a few steep hills to climb and descend. We knew to expect the onslaught of tourists, tourist busses, motorhomes and poor driving standards; however, the hustle and bustle came in thicker and faster than we had anticipated. Making us appreciate the quieter locations we had been.
Despite the Daintree being a world heritage area, it has become very touristy.
All the old rivers crossings north of the Daintree River are now covered with Bridges.
We stopped in at some of the beaches and lookouts, north of the Daintree, but didn't have long to stop as we still had a long drive head to get back to the Caravan tonight. We'll be back this way next week, where we can spend more time. Were booked into a caravan park, Wonga Beach, its right on the beach at Cape Tribulation, we're all looking forward to it.
We arrive back at Mount Carbine, not long before dark. It's with mixed feelings we arrive back at the van. We've all loved camping in our swags under the starts and the easier travelling with just the car and having all we need with us (despite traveling very light). But we won't miss having to move multiple things to find what we are after, with things packed in so tight, it's always been a juggle.
We spend some time starting the repacking and cleaning off the red dirt.
