Tonight's destination is Cooktown. Off all the towns we are revisiting from 16 odd years ago, this is the one that has had the least amount of development. The significant change is the newly opened river mouth picnic grounds, fishing Warf, rock wall and water park. It's well designed and executed. There's even power at the picnic shelters, we've only had 12 volt for the last 10 days, nowhere to charge the laptop.
We've put out the crab pot net, hoping to catch some mud crab.
The boys spend some time fishing at the Warf, again no luck. Unfortunately, it's not surprising when you see the local kids continually ignoring the fishing laws and keeping undersized fish.
We set up camp at the Endeavour River Bush Escape, a well-designed bush camp. Very private with individual sites carved out of the rainforest.
