Onto Bundaberg we enjoyed drinking and tasting their many local delights; the Bundaberg Rum Factory; Bundaberg Ginger Beer Factory, Shalom Markets, a strawberry farm and some roadside fruit and Vegie stalls. Some delights should make it home, others won't last. Wish we could get some of these goodies back at home.
We camped at the Bundaberg CMCA RV Park, this is the first night we've been able to use our CMCA membership. Our site costs $6 for the night, we can only stay as we are fully self-contained, there are no facilities, only a dump point and all grey water etc, must be contained.
From Bundaberg we head south east to Barrum Heads and stay in a Youcamp for the first time. Essentially this is just someone's property that people can camp on, a nice place and location. Getting in was a bit difficult, it didn't show up on Google maps, his mud map (a cut out section from Google Maps with notes) was difficult plot against our maps as to where he started from. But we got there in the end. In the last section, the road became very sandy in parts, thankfully, we've had experience driving on the sand and know we need to keep the momentum going, so the caravan received quite a bit of shaking, but handled it well.
The setting by the salt river and mangroves was nice. There was a jetty to fish from, unfortunately no fish were caught this time. We spent a couple of nights here. Unfortunately, this is the first place we have encountered midges, Brad and Lach were their favourites!!!
