2 August, as we head south the weather turns. By the time we are in Atherton, on the Atherton Tablelands, the rain sets in and the weather does not look promising for the next few days. We are so glad to not be currently living out of the swags.
We decide to opt for a farm stay with power, Bonadio RV & Nature Park. It's one of the better farm stays. We're right on the river with Playtpus swimming around. There's a big camp kitchen and communal fire pit that's got a metal roof overhead.
We spend the next 2 days exploring the area, trying to keep dry. We arrive into Lake Eacham to find there's a bike race on, the last 800m of road is closed off. We walk in those last meters, trying to not get killed by the cyclists travelling thru at high speeds.
I remember this being crystal clear when I was here years back as a kid, however, it is not the case today, the visibility in the water is poor and the low lying clouds and rain also limit visibility.
We drive and explore around Lake Timboon and Lake Barrine the little quaint town of Yungburra. Yungurra has lovely hanging baskets lining the street and an artistic historical feel to the town. There's even a tree in the main street wearing a crochet bikini.
We visit the enormous Curtain Fig tree.
