Well it's been a while since my last blog and I need to update you on the last day in Langkawi, the grand prix race weekend in Kuala Lumpur and Tracey's last week in Brunei.
The last day in Langkawi we decided to visit Langkawi's cable car. The cable car is situated in a small duty free park. The cable car itself was like a massive roller coaster! It was really steep going up to 700m above sea level. Tracey wasn't too excited about it but it was worth the views at the top! on a clear day we could have seen Thailand - but as we went in the dry season there is a lot of haze around so it's hard to see in to the distance! At the top is also a sky bridge, which is essentially a curved suspension bridge that my dad would have absolutely loved! Again Tracey wasn't too excited, however she did it and I was very proud even though she walked very quickly over and back. I on the other hand wandered across, looking over the edge and taking in the view....straight down in to the jungle between the canyon. The journey back down was a little hairy it felt like you should be going really fast over the edge, however being a cable car it was obviously very slow and I found it kind of exciting dangling above the jungle, where you could see in to the trees and got a great view of the Seven Falls Waterfall (see you don't have to hike to see the sites!!)
After a spot of lunch we decided to take a leisurely elephant ride! HA HA we sat one behind the other right on the elephants back while it took a 20min stroll through the jungle. It was very cool, however much much more uncomfortable than the one Terrie and I took in Thailand. We both felt like we had been assaulted for the next few days!!! Our elephant also decided it wanted a particular type of leaf for its snack and completely went of course to get to them! In the processes taking out branches on its way. This in turn catapulted two spiders on to its back just in front of me! One was fine but the other was making a web in the elephant's hair and making its way towards me.....I decided the best action was to get the Mahout to get rid of it, little did I know he was also scared of spiders!!!!!! I thought he was going to leap of the elephant and leave us there!!!
Because Tracey's night jungle walk had been cancelled on Thursday evening I had changed my massage and reflexology treatment to Friday evening. Oh my!!!! The foot scrub was lovely but when it came to the massage I think she actually beat me up! I told her a few times to be gentler but she either didn't understand or didn't listen!! I couldn't sit back as I had bruises up my spine, arms and legs! It was so painful it was funny! Especially on the plane from Langkawi to Kuala Lumpur!
Sunday brought us finally to the most exciting part of our trip! The Malaysian Gran Prix (Sepang). Wow what can I say....we actually went to the actual race!! Whilst waiting for the race I could hear a lot of thunder and was slightly concerned, however the race started with no rain. 8 laps in the storm hit! The safety car came out and the cars all went in. The red flag was up! The storm was massive, Tracey and I ended up as drowned rats but we stuck it out! Luckily the storm finally passed and 30 minutes later the race was restarted! It was so loud but it was exciting! The speed these cars travel is amazing especially when the restarted and the track were wet, it quickly dried out though!
The last week of Tracey's visit was quite relaxed. We shopped, ate and relaxed. Had a couple of meals out and saw a few people. On Thursday we went across the border on a "booze run" there were 10 of us and we really had a great time. As the border closes around 10pm it was decided to carry the night on at my house in The Queen Vic. I think a great time was had by all.
Saturday came round far too quick and after a celebratory (Kerry and Lin got engaged in Las Vegas) lunch it was time for emotional good bye to Tracey. Since it is now Tuesday I am pleased to say other than a bit of a weather diversion and a few bumps she got home safe and sound. Time to start planning my trip home in the summer and her next trip out to me!
