Oh my god the last two weeks have flown by! I cannot believe Tracey has left already and in fact at the time of me writing this she is actually already back in the UK!! We have had a great time!! So as I have two weeks' worth of blogging to do this is going to be a little long!
Tracey adapted to being Brunei quite quickly considering she doesn't like being too hot! In fact by the 3rd day she was already trying to come up with ways to stay!! The first week she was here, I was working so during the day she just chilled out in my flat. Most of the evenings we went out for something to eat and I showed her the sights of Brunei.
On the middle Friday I took her to Kuala Lurah, Malaysia with Hilary and Tony. We had a great time eating local dishes and singing Karaoke! I also got to bring back more alcohol than usual because Tracey brought some back for me!
Saturday - Singapore. We spent most of the morning packing for our trip to Singapore. By the afternoon we were ready for our journey on two AirAsia flights, first one to Kuala Lumpur and then from there to Singapore. Tracey was actually quite controlled on the flights and considering we had to fly through a thunder storm with quite a bit of turbulence I thought she did quite well!! We arrived in Singapore and at our hotel by 11pm so we pretty much found a 7/11 and then went to bed.
Sunday we got up early and went on our tour to Singapore Zoo where we had breakfast with the urang otangs. We got to sit closer to them than when I went with Terrie so I saw a bit more of them I think Tracey really enjoyed the Zoo!
Monday we went on the Singapore flyer which is right next to the start/finish and pit lane for the Singapore F1 track. So for those of you that know Tracey she was sooo excited she nearly wet herself!! We got walk all the way along the pits where the driver names and order are still up from the race two weeks ago so that as pretty cool! In the evening we went back to the Zoo for the night safari! This was very cool, and completely different to the day zoo! We got to ride a little tram around the park with a guide telling us about the animals which were all acting differently in the dark than they did when we saw them during the day! After the tram ride we decided to do one of the walking trails, this was all going well until I discovered that I don't actually like bats!!!!! I got a little upset when one decided to fly over my head and then more upset when I realised I had to walk back the same way!!!!! I had never really thought about Bats in the jungle, but now I know this one more thing I have to be aware of!!!
Tuesday we went to Universal Studios! This was very good!! It wasn't too busy so we didn't have to wait too long for the rides or the shows. We saw the Water world show which had a lot of water flying around and actors doing stunts with boats and fire. We also went in the Steven Spielberg show, which made us feel like we were in a force 5 tornado in New York so I found this one particularly exciting!!
Wednesday was home time - Tracey has somehow managed to hurt her foot, so when we got back to Brunei I took her to JPMC where she saw a doctor and had an x-ray, however there was no break so that was good! Just a bit swollen and sore for her!
Thursday we were pretty tired and Tracey's foot hurt so we had a lazy day so she could rest then Nick and Julie came to dinner which was a lovely evening!
Friday I took Tracey on a trip down the river to see the proboscis monkeys, monitor lizards and fireflies! I think she was suitably impressed. The fireflies were as lovely as ever and we had a lot of fun trying to catch them! At one point I thought we were going to drown as the guide accidently drove his boat straight in to the mangrove bank!! Just a little scary!!!
Saturday - Tracey's last day L I finally managed to take her to Bukit, we were only going to have a look but we somehow ended up walking up to the 2nd lookout tower. I found it a hell of a lot easier this time even though we were not really dressed for it! I am glad I got to take her as she really wanted to see it, who knows next time she comes I might be brave enough to walk round the whole thing! (And fit enough!!).
So now she has gone and the flat feels very quiet, but only around 7 weeks until I will be back in the UK for Christmas with a new baby to play with and obviously see my gorgouse Katie!! Between now and then we have two public holidays and also I am going to Miri for the St Andrews Ball!! Whoopee!!!
