Today was the first unofficial public holiday of Summer (Victoria Day) so on Saturday morning we hired a Chrysler Cruiser and set off for a car holiday weekend through the rolling farmlands of Ontario. Now who said Ontario (a land locked state) doesn't have beaches...they have plenty of lakeside beaches with these beautiful cottages perched right alongside them (supposedly there are 250,000 lakes in Ontario). Toronto's are renowned for their weekend cottage get aways however as we didn't have a cottage to go to we thought we would tent...well the weather was crap so we ended up sleeping in the car over the weekend, there was even a small tornado in the provenience we stayed in that
night. Thankfully we didn't have any accidents as I did have to drive on the right hand side of the road. I must admit it was great driving after such a long break I felt in control and he scenery was stunning; waterfalls, old farmhouses, Amish people driving horse and carts, beer tasting and a local distillery, markets, national parks...to travel again! The highlight was the Bruce Peninsula .. it was an awesome view (see picture) yet we didn't see any bears or moose, maybe next time!!
