It was great to be back in SA. It was 2 years ago since I was there. My folks picked me up from the airport and I went back to Carletonville. It was my Mum’s birthday the next day and I had bought her a pink pearl necklace, which she loved. I spent the week doing admin and spent time with the folks. On the weekend I went and saw my friends Rautie, Maureen & Gerrohn. It was great catching up with them and I realized good friendships do stand the test of time. Unfortunately Gerrohn’s wedding was called off. This was one of the reasons that I had gone over to SA. Gerrohn & I went to the Lion & Rhino park close to JNB and it was awesome to see them feed the Lions, Cheetahs and Wild Dogs. I loved being back in the South African bushveld. The following weekend I saw other friends of mine Riaan & Zelda and I had not seen them for about 5 years and it was great to catch up again. I think I ate and drank too much J. I then went down to Pietermaritzburg to visit Liz who was out on holiday. We decided to ride the Sani Pass. Little did I know that the pass ends in Lesthoto. This means I needed a passport and I had not brought mine with. So I had to courier it overnight. It was a pretty tough climb for me as I am fairly unfit at the moment, but well worth it once we got to the top. The next morning we came back down again and as one can expect Liz was at the border post long before me. I also ended up having 3 pinch flats on the way back and Liz had one. I then flew on to Cape Town and met Anna at the airport. She had flown out to spend 4 days with me. It was great to see and be with her again. We stayed at Anthony and Kim’s and it was great to spend time with my godson Matt. We managed to see all of my friends in CT before Anna left. Chris has an awesome place in Misty Cliffs and we spent a night there. The views from his deck are breathtaking. We even had a great view of the comet. Chris & his sister Daleen are starting to make wine. Anna & I went to the farm where they store & make their wine. The farm is called Nagenoeg (Close Enough). They had a ceremony to bless the vines and then had a picnic. We had a great afternoon picnicking with Chris. Anna left on the Sunday and I spent the next week with Ant, Kim & Matt. They are moving back to London which makes me glad as I will get to spend more time with them and my godson Matt. I also spent time with some of my old Sanlam friends so of whom I had not seen in 6 years and yet it felt like we had never been apart. I flew back to JNB and spent a day with my folks before leaving the next day back for Sydney.
