It's spring in the Kruger - the first rains were about two weeks ago and the animals very cleverly coordinate the arrival of their young with the onset of the rains and the subsequent availability of lots of lush new vegetation.

The little impala on the left was born less than five minutes before this picture was taken - if you look closely you can see the remains of the umbilical cord hanging down. The fawn was a bit wobbly initially, but once it got the hang of its legs there was no holding it back and it raced around, jumping up and down - with its mother chasing after it, still in the process of cleaning up the afterbirth.
