Ian and Mandy are old friends from Zambia and now live in Kitisuru, Nairobi. Ian works on horticultural development projects for Fintrac, an American company that project manages the application of US Aid in the agricultural sector.
Kitisuru is only about 10 minutes drive from the Westgate Shopping Centre and the expat community here is still reeling from the recent attack there. One of the boys in Connor's class and his mother were killed and everyone seems to know someone who was killed or injured.
John pitched up again to take me to Wilson Airport for the flight to Malindi this afternoon. We went through central Nairobi and it was a nightmare journey - lots of old fashioned roundabouts operating way beyond design capacity with no traffic lights or police control = recipe for chaos!
