It's baking hot around the middle of the day, so Tim and I retreated after our 1100 brunch (we were out game viewing from 0630) to the camp beds that we hauled up into this tree house.
We came across the tree house yesterday whilst looking for a camp site and thought - why bother putting up a tent? Its a brilliant place. There are three lashed/nailed together bush ladders made out of mopani branches that take you up to the viewing/ sleeping platform, with an intermediate 'landing' and 360 deg views at the top under a makuti roof. There is always a breeze up here, which means its cooler during the day but (as we found out last night) it can be pretty cold at night - we had anticipated camping and had not brought sleeping bags! Also, as the heat builds up during the day and the wind strengthens, so the sway of the tree (and the tree house) increases, alarmingly at times - and we share the tree with an African Mourning Dove and a couple of pairs of Superb Starlings, (very pretty birds with orange chest and iridescent blue/green upper parts) who protested noisily when we moved in, but they have got used to the idea and get their retaliation in by wakening us up very early in the morning.
