We did an afternoon shore excursion from Greenock to Glascow. Overnight in port, we are setting sail at 2am for Invergordon. So, Lauren and I opened our free bottle of wine and will be taking it to dinner tonight.
We had a fun time on the tour to Glascow, where we learned this area was big in sugar production along the Clyde River. Glascow was founded by a Monk named St. Mongo, and his tomb is in the Glascow Cathedral. We went by Glascow University, founded 1541.
We went to the Glascow Cathedral, which was obviously stunning. We had an extra 20 minutes there since there was a protest in one of the town squares we were supposed to go to on the tour.
We then went to the Kevingrove Museum, and spent an hour and a half; we saw the Salvatore Dali Christ on a Cross painting, but somehow missed the Monet. There was a huge pipe organ upstairs, nicely lit.
It was a beautiful day here in Western Scotland. Our next port in in northern Scotland, Invergordon, which I have been to already.
