Got up really early this morning to be ready to get a taxi to the airport at around 6.30am. Found a taxi and did the hours drive to the airport. We checked in and were flying at 9.15am, we got a free meal on the plane which was a bonus. We got to Singapore and got the MRT from the airport close to Little India where we're staying. From the MRT the walk really wasn't very far to the hostel. We checked in and were shown to our room. This is the first dorm room we have stayed in so far, there were eight blocks with a double bed on the bottom and a single bed above each one. Below them were lockers to keep your bags in. There were no curtains for any privacy, it felt very open but I suppose these places the whole point is to socialise with everyone. You got in the room with a key card which also got you into the toilet and shower block. When we were unpacking we realised we'd booked three nights but only really needed two. Our flight is late at night on the third night, James tried to cancel a night but they said they couldn't do that. Oh we'll, we would have to check out at 11.00am and have no where for our bags but now we can check out just before going to the airport and have a full day of sight seeing. After we sorted this we went out for an explore around Singapore. We got the MRT to a stop called Raffles Place thinking that the famous Raffles hotel would be somewhere around there. It was their financial district and really good to have a look at the sky scrapers, Raffles hotel was quite far away but we did find a place which was a hawker centre for food. It had every cuisine you could think of and the prices were great. It started to rain when we were inside, quite heavily. We were sort of trapped for a little while as there was no other place you could get to without going through the rain, eventually it calmed a little and we made a run for it back to the tube station. We got back to our place and sat in the huge dining area using the wifi. We decided to go out for a drink, with us not having a room to ourselves it's not quite the same hanging around in a dorm room. We had read about a pub which was really popular with backpackers so we headed for there, we read the drinks menu and were gobsmacked at the price they were charging for one beer. We decided to not get one from there, we found a little Indian restaurant to have a beer in instead. It had a few people in and the beer was a lot cheaper. We walked back to our place at around 12.30am, got in and went to sleep.
