Another day, another move. We started by getting some breakfast downstairs in the hotel restaurant, coffee and toast. We packed the rest of our things and James went to get the taxi, he was pretty quick and we were on our way again. Calangute is very busy with traffic so we got out of the taxi a little early and walked. The hotel is nice, bed is comfy, that's the main thing. Just about everywhere else the mattresses have been about the thickness of a yellow pages! We went for a walk around Calangute, it's quite big compared to everywhere else we have been, we walked down the beach and back. There are so many shacks on the beach and some of them have some names that reminded us of home, cricketers, wetherspoons and then one for mum, rovers return! Later on we went out for some tea, James read on trip advisor about a Thai restaurant which was in the back of an Irish pub that was meant to be good so we gave it a go. Bizarre setting but didn't seem so strange when you were in there. We were given a tiny starter for free, it had a lettuce leaf filled with peanuts, chopped ginger, onion and some other ingredients, then you drizzle some sauce on the top fold it up and eat it. That was really nice, I wouldn't mind making them at home! Our meals were really good too, definitely worth the good rating on trip advisor.
There is one thing that neither of us like about Calangute though that we haven't come across anywhere else yet. There are so many beggars, women sat on the street with their hand out and their baby laid on the floor, women walking up to you with their hand out and baby in arms, a man leant on crutches praying and as you walk past his hand comes out and the worst one we saw was a little girl who must have only been 3/4 walking up to people at restaurants (on her own) with her hand out. Not keen on this side of India!
