Brie & Trent's Travels
**Anyone reading this should probably read Briana's entry first for the fuller story**
Ok, hi. Budapest sounds fun, right? It really has suprised me in a good way. I'm not sure what I really expected, but this city is very cool.
Briana has just told me that I am in charge of writing down the "fun" things from our travels today because she wrote such an epic entry. There is one thing I must mention that happened a long time ago in Barcelona but I instantly thought of when she said that. So we were walking along La Rambla, the huge main street, where many street performers do their thing. Some act like statues, some play music, etc. Anyways, we were walking by a cafe thing and Briana was staring at someone's plate of food as we passed as she loves to do. She should have been looking ahead though because this man in a gorilla suit who was roaming the sidewalk snuck up in front of her (she almost fell over him) and let out a little growl. She screamed really loud and ran away - everyone at the cafe laughed. It was hialrious.
Ok back to the more recent past. Last night it's true, the concert was great. I think you all will love the cd cover - it has all the bandmembers holding out ice cream cones with hearts in them. Pretty gross and dark, but whatever the band was good. They even did a couple cover songs we knew. Before we headed out for that though, Gabor (this is his real name, not Gregor like Briana wrote) insisted that we try some of his palinka, an authentic Hungarian liqour. It was, as he described, an ultra distilled plum juice that was somehow rendered into alcohol. Oh yeah, and it it flavored with a hot paprika pepper. It was really hot, but flavorful I guess. Good thing we only had a tiny taste.
The baths were cool today, just a great place to hang out and relax. Plus, they're beautifully built and decorated with statues and whatnot. When you buy a ticket in, they assign you your own "cabin" which is a tiny little room where you can change and leave your stuff while you swim around. The whole complex seemed very clean, more so than I expected - even more interesting when you realize that the pools are filled with spring water and not chlorinated (at least so far as we heard and could tell). We both liked the really cold bath (around 50 degrees or so) because it was the most refreshing and different. We even saw a man dive into it head first (I had to move aside for this) even though The whole pool was only 3 or 4 feet deep and maybe 12 feet long. The whirlpool deal was also cool; I think it was kind of a kid thing to do but we weren't the only older ones. Briana was pretty funny trying to maintain control as we swirled around - it reminded me of a puppy that had fallen into a river with steep banks.
The metro ride home was a bummer because of the crazy fine thing, but we've put it in perspective and are mostly over it by now. I don't know how much sense this will make, but I'll try to describe a funy moment we had on the metro this morning. Brie said something about me playing the piano, and I said that that would make about as much sense as a dog (...playing the piano since I have no idea how). She thought I meant playing a dog (...?) and she lost it, laughing uncontrollably for about 5 minutes. She definitely got a couple dirty looks from people on the bus too, but I don't know if it was because of her outburst. Whatever Hungarians. That is all I can think of to write now, but stay tuned for more "fun" entries. Man I could eat a Poma's right now....
