Ko Lak - back to a beach for topping up the tan! Ko Lak was one of the worst places hit by the 2004 tsunami, and was prone to future ones which got us and a few lads we met talking about what would happen if... we stayed in a decent bungalow for a few nights then we decided to treat ourselves to an expensive all included hotel and spa on the beach. we checked in and went to get something to eat, on our way back we were walking down the main road happily munching away on some ice creams when huge crowds of people were walking the other way, which seemed strange but we did bother us it was only when we got back to our hotel, we were told there was an earth quake and there was a tsunami heading for us, and we must be evacuated to the highlands. fortunately the tsunami dispersed about three miles out at sea, and we were allowed to return to our beach hotels, we had our free breakfast then checked out, and moved on...
