As exciting as our touring has been, everyone was busting for our two and half day run at sea. We'd planned to kick off the first full day with breakfast together, we all left the room around the same time, but Fid snuck off to Edge on the way not to be heard from again until dinner the first night - well actually his voice was gone by then so we didn't really hear from him then either :)
Shunning the spa treatments Gab and I enjoyed blissful time to ourselves. Boo was worried her phone may have stopped working, she decided it was best to call us every 10 minutes to update us on her progress through the day. "Hi, I'm just getting a drink", "Hi I'm playing bingo now" these updates went on all morning until we realised how to mute the phone, problem solved!
Our first night at sea was going to be a cracker as the boat was set to cross under the Oresund Bridge. A massive span it's the longest in Scandinavia joining Denmark and Sweden, we'll be driving over it next year. The boat has to speed up on the approach to bury itself deeper into the water and ensure it makes it under. The bigged up this crossing all day long, I think they also relied on the weight of all of us 11 day Disney Diet guests crowding the front of the boat to help bury the nose for the crossing. The important thing is the strategy worked.
The other first for the night was our first dinner at Palo. Fantastic dinner as the sun set slowly through the evening, I'll miss these slow sunsets when we get home. It made a fantastic backdrop to delicious meal with Ed and Staci. The kids embraced their night of complete freedom. Boo went to family karaoke with her new family of friends. She and a few others missed out on being selected to participate - in full stomping princess mode they took their complaint to guest services. Gab and I were enjoying O'Gills too much to get involved, but I wish I'd heard her argument. She was one of the first to perform the next night :) We're set to gain an hour that evening, the kids colluded to both come home an hour late and claim ignorance of the 3am application of time change.
The next morning we were fully in the sleep in mode, even with the extra hour we didn't make it to the 11am breakfast cut off. No trouble lunch started half an hour later :) I worked my way through my collection of beers we'd picked up in the past few ports. The deck was super windy, but the sun was warm enough to overcome it. Working out we'd muted the phone Boo had un-muted it overnight and called to let us know she was getting her hair braided - she might love the result but she sure hated the process.
Our last night was Animator's Palette with the cartoons drawn by the guests, I managed to submit two vikings and both made it into the movie - though neither were worthy of their role, I'll need to take lessons from Boo. After dinner everyone was free again until the lobby farewell show just after 10. Sucks to have to think about getting off tomorrow. After the show we went to Karaoke with Boo to watch her perform - Gab and I ended up there for an hour, it was enthralling to watch these kids big and small pour their hearts out and have a ball. We finished the night at O'Gills, tomorrow we leave, where better to drown your sorrows than an Irish pub?
