Frankly I think Gab may have forced me to overdo it at Hofbrau, we drag ourselves out of Bed, pack up and get ready to hit the road (if not other things). Great start to the day was getting trapped straight out into peak hour traffic when the GPS instructions didn't match reality. The kids have come for a joy ride with me to collect the van from storage, happily for them the scene of me trying to reconfigure a GPS, maneuver a truck through peak hour traffic al punctuated with bunny hops made for a thoroughly entertaining trip -- for them.
Eventually we've made it out of the rabbits warren and make our way to the Oktoberfest fields and the Bavaria statue, a quick illegal park means we only have minutes to steal a few pictures before well be kicked out. Off on the course to Neuschwanstein and soon enough we're flying along the Autobahn at 130 with locals flying straight past us. The Autobahn thing is going well until the GPS too decides to make fun of me - it's sets a course for single lane track snaking through the mountains on the ascent to Neuschwanstein. In some parts the van wasn't an easy fit all on it's own, let alone when trying to squeeze past an oncoming truck, max thought t our imminent death fall down the side of the mountain was very exciting!
Arriving too late we miss our tour of Neuschwanstein, in fact even as we got to the top of the bus drop off ready to explore the castle it was already time to head home and off to the Zeppelin!
The ascent was amazing, the float was amazing, the drift on the wind was brilliant, but the photos tell the story better than I can. OMG what an experience - if you ever get a chance - jump on it!
Straight after the ride we plant the foot and head to Zurich. To cross lake Constance we have to take a ferry - "We're going to drive on water?" was Emerson's interpretation of the GPS screen. I could get use to this no limit thing what a blast!
Soon enough we're in Zurich on a stinking hot day and we arrive at a hotel with no Aircon or parking - ouch! Half an hour later we're unpacked, checked in and ready for a recovery beer - let me at it!
