With no-one in bed before 11 last night the kids slept in late. The rocky pull into Mykonos had Gab awake at 3am while the rest of us slept until a cruisy 9am. We had a bus across the port and started a stroll around the foreshore. We bumped into the rest of our party on a little beach where the cousins had a little play seeing if they could reach the big expensive boats with their rocks - healthy game!
We did nothing - we got lost in LIttle Venice, it's not hard to see where it gets it's name. Gab found a little cafe right on the water, with the waves lapping at the other side of our seats it was pretty romantic, apart from the other two spoiling our date. We crept up the hill towards to the windmills where the wind was scary, Max lost his hat, a guy next to us was leaning so far into the wind he lost a shoe. What an incredible spot.
Around the bay a little further we found a fantastic secluded beach with crystal clear waters, and then a hotel with luxurious little villas along the side - the whole island is so picturesque. Rather than go back around the bay we decided to see if we could cut through LIttle Venice directly. It was way nicer than some Venice alleys, but as we made our way deeper and deeper in the lack of air flow made it hotter and stickier with each turn. We found a little square with kids playing, an old barber shop, but mostly lots of art and craft stores - sort of like a Greek version of the southern highlands. Eventually we declared ourselves lost, the kids decided to find our way out by searching for the sea breeze, they decided each turn based on the wind force around each corner. Within a few turns they had us right back out on the bay again - well done!
Calamari, Gyros, and Alpha made for a perfect monday lunch in the sun of the bay. Max put on his swimmers and walked along the shore but never quite made it in.
Back on the boat later the kids were excited to have the afternoon to themselves. Gab had a Spar afternoon while I slept for an hour or so before my massage - tough life! We'd told Max he had to be at dinner by 6pm, we got there a few minutes later to find him queueing first in line for the doors to open - clever man.
Tomorrow is Pirate night, so tonight was the last chance for a full family shot with Mickey in Greek costume - tick!
Tomorrow is also Santorini with a 7:30 start! it's 10:30 and we're trying to get the kids into bed - I think Santorini is going to be a war of attrition against the demonic unrested kids - we night begin experiments with caffeine :)
