Brenton Kovacs's Travels
The drive to Amman was pretty boring, as we expected, it is a desert. We arrived at the Toledo Hotel after a harrowing drive through the traffic. They are such bad drivers. The hotel is quite nice, and located in a quieter area of Amman. After checking in at around 1.30pm, we go for a long walk down into the Old city to visit the Roman Amphitheater and the Amman Citadel. Luckily the walk is all down hill, but i am not looking forward to the climb back to the hotel.
The old city seems to operate at a slower more sedate pace than Cairo. Nobody hassles you, which is great. Finding these sites is not easy, but luckily we have installed the maps of Amman on our phone, which helps guide us to our destination. The Citadel offers a stunning view of Amman, and being there at sunset was a bonus.
Not sure if i like Amman yet. It is not as polluted as Cairo, but give it a few more years and it will. There is nothing worse than walking along the footpath, only to have a bus or truck come along with some much black diesel smoke pouring out of the exhaust.
We return to the Hotel just after 5pm and feeling a little worn out. This retched cold is still hanging on. Included in the tariff we get breakfast and a 3 course dinner for a total of $85AU. Will let you know if either are any good.
Amman seems to have a cat problem, they are everywhere. Mangy looking things these are. Wont be patting on of them.

Adrya Kovarch Looks boring - too flat.
Adrya Kovarch Looks a bit more up market than Cairo.
Adrya Kovarch Wow how impressive. I'm glad they preserved the amphitheatre.
Adrya Kovarch Interesing architecture.
Adrya Kovarch Another brilliant shot Alan.
Adrya Kovarch Looks very populated. So typical those flat rooved Arabic houses. I still can't cope with the lack of trees anywhere. No town planning took place - i am sure of that!
Adrya Kovarch Interesting shot - good use of the setting sun and strong colour in the background on the houses
