Wednesday 12th Set off early for the UNESCO Heritage site of Herculaneum. Situated very near Mt Vesuvius - it was an ancient Roman town destroyed by volcanic pyroclastic flows in 79AD. I’ve been to Pompeii - and think this is better. The excavation work is still ongoing - but here the houses are more defined with the timber used carbonised so still visible, colours of mosaics so clear. So worth the visit. Monday 10th June - heading for Sorrento - which is particularly poignant as Bob left us 2 years ago today - and I have some magic moments from the few days we spent in Sorrento in 2008. Tuesday 11th June Lazy start as we had a few drinks last night. Decided to check out a museum - Museo Correale - a 16th century villa now packed with artefacts - archeological, furniture, art, clocks - villa surrounded by several acres of orchard and garden.
