Friday 14th June
Today we travelled from Sorrento to Monterosso ( Cinque Terre)- this took 4 changes of trains - and we managed to be on time for them all. Must say train travel is great - see the country side, no long waiting as in airports - and the Italians are coming up trumps with running on schedule.
Arrived Monterosso mid afternoon - cute hotel ( love these owner run little ones) - went for stroll along the water - dinner in restaurant overlooking the ocean - pasta - molto bono - excellent. Then walking back to our hotel we stopped at a cafe where the locals were eating - coffee and apple pie - heaven - best coffee we have had ( make it too strong for me- even if ask for 1 shot!)
Our room has a sea “glimpse” - it is lovely and clean - we are so close to the beach ( no sand - pebbles) that an early morning swim is planned ( may not happen - but has been put on tomorrow’s itinerary.
