Arrived in London without any drama, and Erin will be pleased to know that our bags arrived safely with us. Super nice surprise on checking at the Sofitel Hotel at Heathrow around noon Saturday! We were informed that we had been selected as the hotel special guests of the day. This meant upgrading from just a normal luxury room to a larger, even more luxurious king suite. Also complimentary nibbles and drinks in the club lounge, plus (if we had time) free use of the hydo Spa and gym. The weather was quite London like....steady rain and heavy overcast grey sky. Caught a bus to Windsor Castle and wandered around the village for an hour or so then went back to the hotel for our complimentary drinks and early dinner. Up at 4am this morning (Sunday). The hotel is right at terminal 5, so just a 5 minute walk to check in for our BA flight to Istanbul. There are plenty of spare seats in the plane so very pleasant. Was still raining in London but expecting fine and 32 in Istanbul. The in flight map is showing we are some where over Germany at present, near Stuttgart. It's a 3.5 hour flight and with a 2 hr time difference, our ETA in Istanbul is about 1pm. Time to watch a movie on the iPad.
