On Fathers Day in Dubrovnik, we set off on a cruise that was to take in 3 of the islands off Dubrovnik, with a stop off for lunch. After boarding our boat, all was going nicely until after about 3 stop offs along the coast the boatman asked us where we were heading to?? When we told him that we were on the 3 Island cruise he replied....no you're not!!
Any short story is that after quite prolonged debate, we agreed that we were on a normal ferry boat, confusion reigned and there was no chance of joining the correct boat, which had been berthed next to the one we boarded with our cruise tickets (same company). So instead they dropped at their next stop, their private island where they arranged a beautiful lunch, beers, wine and coffees, all complimentary of course!! It was a wonderful peaceful place, we spent several hours swimming eating and relaxing, then they took us in their little run about boat across to the mainland with a little excursion along the coast and dropped us at a little resort town where we hopped on the ferry back to Dubrovnik. All in all it was a really special day out. The staff of the boat company were awesome and couldn't do enough for us to make up for the mistake. This morning (Monday) we're picking up a rental car and heading north up the coast to Drvenik, where we catch a car ferry across to the island of Hvar for our next 2 nights. We can now understand why Erin and T loved Dubrovnik so much, it's a very special place, amazing scenery, incredible history and the local people are very friendly.
