So after three and a half days of relaxing on the Felucca we finished up today and returned to Luxor. Over the three and half days we saw temples in Edfu and Komombo. Both very beautiful although I've seen so many temples now! The Felucca was so relaxing. Today it was up at 2.30am to begin the drive to Abu Simbel. Arrived there for dawn. Very impressive and spent a few hours exploring the temples and enjoying the lake. Then the drive back to Aswan again. This afternoon we began our Felucca sail back up the Nile from Aswan to Luxor. We a sailing with three Nubian guides. All very lovely, although not as open and playful as our Bedouin friends. The Felucca is larger than I thought it would be with plenty of room...

This morning we drove from Luxor to Aswan. Aswan is a nice city and has this really nice tropical feel to it. Wide streets, warm weather, cafes everywhere, and the Nile is clean here. This afternoon we went to the Nubian museum, followed by some shopping in the souq, then sat at a cafe watching the world go by for a couple of hours. Very relaxing. For lunch today I also tried the traditional stuffed pigeon. Not my fave, but ok.

Today it was up before dawn for hot air ballooning over the Valley of the Kings and Luxor. Breathtaking. Unfortunately though we did manage to land in the middle of a sugar cane field which was a little less than comfortable. Then it was a 10km donkey ride from the west bank to the Valley of the Kings. One of them actually asked me before I left if I would like to stay and be his third wife. Was laughing until I realized he was serious.
