View above is the "shortcut" down to town from our hotel. Early morning rain gave us a nice break to sit around & read a bit after our lovely Villa Steno breakfast. Headed out for the train to Vernazza, the next town south for lunch. When we were finished, the sun had returned!

Each if these hill towns have their own personality. Vernazza seems to have more working fishermen than Monterosso. They all have wonderful gelato!

After a pre-dinner refreshment set off to walk the "lemon trail," a path up the hillside to a lemon orchard & some amazing old structures that must have been part of a villa at one time.

Tomorrow we check out the trail conditions as the first segment is supposed to be open with an alternative walk to the next town. Instead of the sunny Wednesday predicted now they say it will rain again in the morning. We'll find out & if it's too muddy there's an agritourismo with wine tasting up another hill. Either way, it's our last day in Monterosso & even with rain it's been a great time. The couple who run the hotel have been very sweet & the people we've met have been friendly.
