Well, change of plans today. Since we have so little time in Paris, and it's raining again, we decided to pass on Giverny & see more Paris sites. Started off on the metro to the Arch d'Triumph & walked back down the Champs Élysées to the Tuilleries Gardens & l'Orangeries Museum. There we saw Monet's Water Lily room, as well as another of willows. These are the full-wall size paintings Monet did when he was losing his sight.
A small museum, they also have some very nice pieces on loan including Picasso & contemporaries, & a full room of Italian impressionists. New to us & an area to explore when we get home.
It's hard to think of leaving Paris so soon just as we've figured out the metro, trains, & a bit of the lay of the city. Maybe another trip!
The French people are very nice. Our first day while standing on the sidewalk looking sadly at our map, a lovely lady with a bag full of baguettes stopped & asked if she could help. Most people speak English & are courteous & helpful. However, there are posted signs everywhere about pick pockets, & on our first metro ride a young girl dipped into David's empty pocket & quickly exited. We kept our pockets empty & spared ourselves this trauma!
On to Genoa & Portofino in the morning. Hope the rain isn't going to follow us all the way there!
