The tourist information guy in Lorne sent us on a wild goose chase in search of the elusive Albert street.....the climb up from Lorne's main road was steep...." where the hell you taking me" said tom......hmm I did start to wonder...and get a bit panicky in the car...but thankfully this time the car hire was an SUV or we'd never have mastered the final climb of the evasive Albert street which was as steep as it gets...imagine the hardest of ski red runs, you've got Albert street....
Our wooden decked cottage was perched amongst the tall gum trees , huge canopys of dense thicket and ferns......the scent of wet earth and greenery was uplifting, the air fresh as we got out of the car.....the cottage was quaint and cosy......we soon got acquainted with the white and yellow cockatoos who had many an amusing antic in their repertoire....equally the red and green parrots weren't to be upstaged....
Lorne was a " cool" surfers paradise....so tom and I quickly took to the water....er in my dreams......
Two nights in the Ottway rainforest was a good choice.....we rethought our next few days and decided visiting .Melbourne was not our " taste de the".....and opted to head of to the historic gold mining region......our days are limited now in wonderful Australia.......
