Plans for both Sunset Dinner this evening and then Sunrise Breakfast in the morning. This place has always fascinated us both so really looking forward to seeing it with our own eyes.
Got here at 3pm, our room overlooks Uluru which is fantastic. Told that the sunset dinner transport was leaving at 6.30 so had a chance to familiarise ourselves with the resort. Unpacked, quick siesta then up ready for Sunset. The venue is only around 10 mins drive so we were fortunate enough to see the sun going down over both Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Colours in the desert are fantastic. Then dinner and after that they turned all the lights out and a guest Astronomer talked us through the Southern Sky. What a great experience. Back on the coach, quick beer and then off to bed as we start again with the Sunrise tour at 5am
Feb 13th
up at 4am for the sunrise tour. Got to the viewing platform around 5.20am. It was still dark so a quick cup of Coffee and then get ready, we took a lot of pictures as the sun came up over Uluru, see pictures, at 6.35 we headed off to Mutitjulu Waterhole for an hours walk around the base and to also learn about the Anangu people. On route we passed a number of sacred sites, which we were not allowed to photograph as to the Anguru people these sites have a spiritual part to play in all their lives.
We arrived at the waterhole and Ken, our guide and driver, told us about how the Anguru people use their environment as a Chemist, Grocerystore and DIY store. Acacia, Desert Plum and Fig, Bush Tomato and the Bloodstone tree are all used in some way. He then showed us some other sites where Angulu people believed young boys were taught how to hunt, this cave had a lot of Cave Art, again see photos. He told us the story of Kuniya Pitti, the Python Lady, and her battle to the death to protect her nephew.
We left there for a 30 min stop at the Cultural centre where Freizes and Talking Walls give you a further insight into Angulu life.
truly an Amazing place dominated by Uluru a rock formed over 3.5million years ago
Off to Adelaide in the morning

Mandy Tutchener It was certainly home from home as you have Spanish Lizards at home.
Mandy Tutchener Looks wonderful. We are so jealous of your Mil Way view experience.
