Spring Break—Day 1, Lucerne
Currently, I am sitting on a Eurostar train speeding through the Italian countryside and enjoying the view from my window. We’re a little confused as to where we’re supposed to sit though. Our Eurorail passes guarantee us admission onto the trains but they failed to tell us before we bought the tickets that we’re not guaranteed a seat on the train. Some of these trains have assigned seats and we’re allowed to sit just as long as it’s not someone’s assigned seat…but we don’t know if it is or not. Our tickets have no seat numbers so we kind of just have to sit and then move every time someone comes for the seat. It is kinda confusing but I think we’re going to pay the extra fees each time we travel to get an assigned seat. It’s not too much, about 2 euro per train but at least we can get to our seat and stay there for the remainder of our train ride.
We left Udine this morning around 6:45 to head to the train station so we could catch our train to Venice and make our way to the first country on our trip. It is going to take us about 7 hours total to get to Lucerne, Switzerland and we’re staying the night there tonight and grabbing a train to Zurich, Switzerland tomorrow afternoon. After that, we’re heading to Amsterdam and then Munich. It is going to be a very busy 2 weeks but I’m really looking forward to seeing everything that I can along the way. I’ll be writing everyday so that I can put down everything we get to do and see along the way. Hope everything is going well back home! I can’t believe that I will be coming home in just 5 weeks! It is really going to fly by! See you in Switzerland
