So Sydney. Fab place!! We headed into city on train on Friday. Campsite 700m from station and 30 mins into town. Went over harbour bridge on train for our first glimpse of opera house!! Eventually found our way To circular quay via some amazing little food markets in The Rocks where you could buy any cuisine we settled for Japanese pancakes! Sat and watched boats go by for a while Then walked around quay to opera house. Very impressive structure! The harbour goes on forever with so so many different bits to it - never realised it was so huge. It's really beautiful. Wandered briefly into botanical gardens then caught ferry round to darling harbour. There are loads of restaurants and bars here and has a very lively buzz to it. Walked around then got food and headed back to campsite. Saturday decided to catch train into blue mountains. 2 hour train ride but so so worth it. Is just absolutely stunning. Really awesome - like staring into grand canyon but it's all green. We did the whole tourist bus thing as it was so hot but did quite a bit of walking too- boys did remarkably well. Sadly we didn't have enough time to do all the bits we wanted but this is another place we vow to come back to one day. So another late night back to the bus!! Sunday we headed back into the city and did a little bit of shopping. Steaming hot - has been record breaking heatwave in the city with 42 C on sat!! Sadly by 2 pm when we got on ferry to go to manly beach temp had dropped to chilly 20c and brought wind and rain!! So manly not great to be sat on beach!! Not quite what I imagined either really. Really dirty beach litter everywhere and all a bit scuzzy. Shame coz had found really nice house to rent there!! Am sure there's nicer bits!!
So we cut our losses and headed back to city on ferry - grabbed some food and headed back to van.
Spent first night without aircon on and didn't sleep coz could then hear planes
And noisy fridge all night!!
Up early this morning and sadly left lane cove. Went out to bondi beach and had quick walk along beach the headed out of city. Happily going along freeway when jase noticed huge crack and hole in windscreen which was through to inside so
We thought may be good idea to sort out. Sadly can't be fixed til tomorrow in Wollongong. This is not nicest place so have come little further south to kiama which is doll of a place with campsite on the prettiest little beach all sheltered and lovely. So every cloud etc etc.... Boys expended some energy on beach (thank god they lairy today!) and just going to BBQ. Hopefully be fixed and back on road by early pm tomorrow.
We all sad to leave Sydney had great time there but still lots of great places to see am sure.
