So cheating a bit as actually in San Diego now but hey!!!
Arrived into Papeete v late on sat night after leaving Auckland on Sunday!! Cool time travelling!!
hotel was ok but nothing stunning. Up early on Sunday to catch boat to Moorea. Pretty quick catamaran trip. Hotel on Moorea gorgeous. Real tropical paradise. Thatched bungalows over the sea, infinity pool and blue blue seas. Oh yeah and hot sunny weather!!
I won't bore you all with details but basically all we did was swim in the pool, go kayaking in the lagoon and snorkelling on the reef!!!
Boys spent most of the day in the pool and Arun and Charlie actually swimming without any aids so that's brilliant!! The snorkelling was amazing. so so many different sorts of really beautiful colourful fish - stunning. And they were not fazed at all didn't swim away from you. Had to be careful of stone fish and sea urchins but other than that very very cool. A very addictive pastime!!
Kayaking was good too but hard work when you had to take three boys out one after the other!
The surrounding area was very pretty beautiful flowers everywhere and very green although they have had nowhere near enough rain apparently. It is very poor though am guessing tourism and pearls are only real income as there is no agriculture due to there only being the rim of the island being inhabitable as the interior steep volcanic slopes. Most stuff is imported therefore prices extremely high.
As we walked into the village was very entertaining to watch all the hundreds of crabs dive into their holes as soon as you got near. All the grassy/ treey bits were covered in crab holes!!
The time went very very quickly and would have liked to stay longer but definitely will return one day but without boys and on Bora bora!!!
Overnight flight to LA but boys were great slept from take off til breakfast!!! Sadly we didn't but hey ho!!!
