Finally arrived in the suburbs of Sydney. We are camping in lane cove river national park so a really nice location and we have at least three nights here so really nice to chill out for a bit. Plan is to catch train into city for a couple of days. Wanted to go out to blue mountains but not sure if we will manage that. Boys currently having a ball "sledging" down slope behind stinky bus on bits of cardboard!!!! Cheap entertainment!! We spent tues night in Nambucca heads which was avery calm and serene place (til we arrived anyway!!)
It is a river estuary / lagoon with the campsite right on the water. Beautiful calm waters which of course we swam in!!
Sadly we only had one night here but boys had great time in water park and play park.
Then down away from the coast to the hunter valley and wine country :-). We stayed in Cessnock which really not a great place and not a great campsite - lots of cockroaches in the camp kitchen. Nice!!!
But this morning we boarded a horse and carriage for a slow plod around a couple of vineyards. Stopped for some tasting of course and learnt a little of the wine knowledge!!!! Then the hugest ice creams ever - Charlie had fluorescent pink bubblegum flavour yuk!!! Then back to major the horse for a little further trip and some cheese tasting. All very nice but around £7 for the tiniest bit of goats cheese - daylesford prices !!!
Really fab way to see the country side. Just vineyard after vineyard after vineyard. Think it's becoming a bit of a couples luxury resort for sydneyites. Loads of fab restaurants and all sorts of activities such as ballooning, helicopter rides and even jet flights!!! Another place that would be great without the children!!! They did love major though. V hot today even the locals complaining of heat around 38 C. Slightly cooler in Sydney but not much!!!
Hot in the city.......
