Finally wifi to do a blog entry!!! Not strictly in singapore but couldnt write before now!!!
Wow what an amazing city. Really really loved it - very vibrant and sooo friendly the locals very fascinated by my blond haired blue eyed boys!!!
We did quite a bit of walking around city along the river. Our hotel was perfectly situated on Clarke Quay right in amongst all the restaurants and bars. You could eat pretty much any cuisine you wished for Persion, Mongolian Morroccan, Mexican and even Irish and Scottish!!! Soooo expensive though hugely so. We did the whole Singapore Sling in Raffles thing and it was £50 for 5 drinks and that was outside in the courtyard!!
We went to the Night safari zoo which was amazing. Fantastically set up zoo with lighting that simulated moonlight so you see all the animals out and about. We saw lions malayan tigers leopards hippos rhinos giraffes and tons of other stuff. This was topped off by watching tribal dancers doing amazing fire-eating and breathing - the boys seemed to take an unhealthy interest in this!!!
Tues we went to Sentosa - a whole island devoted to tourist amusement! And was pretty much as tacky as it sounds but the cable car ride (or escape pods as boys named them) over the harbour onto the island was worth it. Fantastic views of the city and the port and one of the worlds busiest shipping lanes. There was also a laser light show at the end of the day which was pretty spectacular over the sea.
Wed we just spent mooching around the city waiting for our departure. Very hot and humid around 30 deg I think - this took bit of getting used to but we were getting there by the end.
Will attempt to download pics!!
More from Oz in a bit!
