Hi this is the entry for Santa Cruz.
Well we did not do much here. We arrived on the death train from Brazil at about 8 am. The first bad decision we made was to walk instead of taking a taxi. A taxi would have cost 1 dollar each for us to get from the train station to the city centre. We didn{t have a map, and the streets are a circular formation, rather than a grid pattern, so we walked to far in the one direction. We eventually found ourselves on the dodgy Lonely Planet map, and turned towards the centre.
It was hot, and the camera was tucked away so it couldn{t be stolen, so instead it got drowned in sweat. It works, but you have to guess whats in the photo, because the screen doesn{t work. There are no kodak agents in Santa Cruz.
When we walked into the hostel, we ran into our friends from Poland, Barbara and Jaromir, whom we met in Brazil. We hung out with them on and off for a couple of days, also we are still with Justin from England. We went out to tea with them, Dave made the mistake of eating a whole chilli. He hasn{t been the same since. Our 2 days in Santa Cruz were spent eating ice cream and catching up on sleep.
The hostel had fantastic breakfast of different juices and fruits. Also had a TV, which was a nice change. One exciting event happened when a certain friend of ours knocked over a table full of pot plants and broke every one. In his defence, it was in a stupid place, and he hardly touched it. I agreed weith him when he told the hostel owners that there was no way he was going to pay for it.
We have made plans to go to Samaipata, which is a smaller town with a better climate. Santa Cruz is hot and humid.
Oh yeah, the hostel has two pet toucans, which at the moment seems to be part of our animal theme.
Hasta Luego. BJ and Dave
