Bikepacker's South American Adventure
Nov 18
It was very hard to say good bye to the Galapagos Islands today. We had a great group of people on the boat and it was also hard to say good bye to them. We all would have rather stay on the boat longer... even some marine life dropped by to bid us farewell. We had a big shark swimming around the boat as we were getting ready to disembark. Cool to see, bu let's just say that I didn't really want to swim with him!
At least I had a week in Quito with my niece to look forward to. Well, that is until I finally got Internet access and learned that she had some flights from hell and was unable to make it at all. Back to being sad. I was really excited about traveling with her, she is quite the seasoned adventurer. Alas, I will do my best to enjoy it for her and we will just have to book another trip somewhere in the future.
I did have a lovely time hanging out at the airport with Rosemary and John, and even hitched a ride with them into town. They found a great apartment for a few nights before they head further south. Then I got settled into the hostal and set about figuring out what to do tomorrow...
