I caught the Greyhound bus to Townsville and got dropped off at the ferry terminal so I could catch the ferry to Magnetic Island. I bumped into a couple I met in Cairns and we happened to be staying in the same hostel so caught the ferry together and then the bus to the hostel. The hostel had a great location on the beach, but unfortunately the weather was not great as it was cloudy and quite windy.
On the bus to the hostel I also met 3 other girls who were travelling by themselves so along with Jenny and Bobby we all headed out for a walk. It was quite cold so we all headed back to the hostel for our free evening meal and then started drinking about 5.30! The hostel had a bar attahced to it so we sat in the bar till closing. It all got a little messy and we ended up dancing on the tables, having a dance off with some local lads. At the end of the night I then had to try and get into my room quietly as everyone else was in bed, not an easy thing after a few drinks, but a great night with great people.
The following morning feeling a bit worse for wear I caught the local bus with the 3 girls I had met the previous day and we went and did the Fort Walk in the National Park. We walked up to a look out point where there were great views of the island. Along the way we were lucky enough to see koala's in the wild and I felt so much better after the walk. Some how on the way back down though I managed to fall over and cut my foot open, but after washing it with water and putting a plaster on it I was good to go again. We then caught the bus to Horseshoe Bay and went for lunch at a Mexican restaurant and the food was yummy, a perfect hangover cure! After lunch we walked the length of the beach and back before getting the bus back to the hostel.
The following morning it was time to move on again and after a cooked breakfast I caught the bus to the ferry terminal with a girl from my room Amisha and a couple of other girls I met. We caught the 20 minute ferry and waited at the Greyhound bus stop for our bus to Airlie Beach.
