Well, I've been in Borneo just over a week now, and am having a fantastic time! I've been so busy I've not been able to blog, and even this is gonna have to be a quicky, as I'm off on a river cruise down the Kinabatangan River to see hopefully lots of wildlife, so very excited! Have spent a couple of days sampling the orangs, which are so unbelievably cute, but a few of them are an absolute pain, and so naughty!! one of the older ones, ran into the babies nursery the other day, stole some bread right out of the babies' hands, and then ran off, and when we chased him, he turned on the tap and turned the hose on us!! cheeky git - funny tho! they're so human like its weird! but the sampling all went well, and have spent quite a lot of time in the lab since - which is interesting to say the least, as noone there speaks english and I'm just kind of finding my own way around!!

Have spent quite a bit of time with the volunteers that are helping out at the centre which is nice - theres alwasy someone around to chat too - and we had the Sepilok Christmas party at the resthouse on Friday night which was good fun - loads of amazing malaysian food ( tho they're puddings are absolutely disgusting - this kinda set jelly stuff, a bit like blancmange but worse, and then rice pudding with that stuff on top - all in different colours!) and beers, and lots of drunken karaoke from the staff ( they absolutely love their karaoke here - its like a religion!) But that was fun, and also went trekking with three of the volunteers and a guide the other day. That was insane - it had been raingin all day, so we were pretty much swimming, actually walked through rivers, and had to climb over fallen swinging trees to get across others, holding onto vines so we didnt slide down banks - it was quite an experience!!

Have seen lots of wildlife - some more welcome than others - I woke up to find a scorpion making its way into my dorm the other day - I guess we are in the middle of the jungle, but that wasnt the most pleasant experience! Am meeting new people every night in my dorm which is fun - you never know whos gonna be there each night!

Anyway, better go - am off on a three day cruise and trekking and jungle walks and stuff, and staying in a river lodge deep in the jungle, so will probably be out of contact till Tuesday. I finally managed to get a few photos up so hope you enjoy them, and sorry about the lack of focus on some of them ,its hard to tell which ones are good when I'm uploading!! xxxxxxxx
