Hey Guys!!
Just a quick one to update you all on our mammoth trip to Sao Paulo!
Writing this blog in the luxury of the hotel lobby, how very posh!
Anyway to fill you in on last night, we walked down with a few others from the hostel to the Historical Centre and could here the smooth jazz music playing. There were lots of stalls selling food and drink and people dancing around the square, it was really nice and not too crowded. (We were scared about getting pickpocketed or something)
We had a few beers (yes more beer for Tiff!) a Brazillian pasty and Churros to make sure we werent too drunk! Sat around the square people watching for a while, when Alois bought over two English lads one of which was from Stockton Heath how odd! Anyway chatted away for a bit before moving into the concert tent to get a bit closer to the action, we made it right to the front and was listening to some young singer from New Orleans blasting out ´´When the Saints go marching in¨ and other Brazillian numbers. He went crowd surfing for a while and then asked for the beautiful ladies to come on stage, of course both of us and Alois got up there, rather embarrasing but danced around for a bit, felt quite famous lol! We stayed for the Big Time Orchestra but Beth was very dissapointed as they didnt play Frank Sinatra.
Headed home after eating some Parsnip fries, (Yes more food!) which were actually quite strange but tasty! Got in about 2am and woke up early this morning to pack and get to the bus station on time so we were a bit worse for wear. The bus was actually better than expected had recliner chairs and footrests so we caught some shut eye for most of the jouney, looking back the 6 hours didnt really seem that long.
We arrived in Sao Paulo, which has a typical city look and the metro station was very busy, found our hotel no problem. The area its in isnt the best and is probably a bit rough at night but its central and only here for one night so its perfect. After changing rooms due to it not being serviced, we settled in to our own little apartment with two bedrooms, lounge area and bathroom!! Bliss! Hopefully no more Mosquitos either dont think we can take any more!
This evening we took a walk to get something to eat and tried the famous Baurro sandwich which is average (Beef and Cheese) but it was recommended in the guide book so decided to stick to being typical tourists. It was only half 6 when we headed back but even then the area seemed to be scary so we are just planning to have hot (yes hot) showers and a chill out night at the hotel before getting up early to see a few sights in Sao Paulo tomorrow in the safety of daylight. We have another long bus journey to Curtiba tomorrow evening where we are staying for two nights so should be fun! This travelling lark is not an easy task we can tell you, but enjoying every minute!!
Anway thats all for now, will blog soon and put on more pics!
Miss you all
love Biff xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
