Well, what can I say - the weather was nice when we arrived. Ali was even thinking of doing a skydive but (much to his relief) the rain arrived....and didn't go away for two whole days! TWO DAYS!
Still, we still managed to see the impressive Huka Falls; watch the Aratiatia Dam floodgates open (and see a gentle stream turn into a torrent in a matter of minutes); got soaked walking around yet another thermal park; learnt all about volcanos and stuff at the Volcanic Centre; and gazed in wonder at the space-age looking pipes and powerhouses of the Wairakei Geothermal Power Project!
Then we had a few drinks!
At least we'll have a chance to revisit here on our way back up to Auckland in a few weeks time. Hopefully the weather will be better so that Ali can do his skydive and so that we can walk the Tongariro Crossing - NZ's best one day walk and features in Lord of the Rings as Mt Doom!
