Another pretty city and one that is very proud of it's Scottish ancestry - did you know that Dunedin is Gaelic for Edinbourgh?! (Did you also know that Dunedin is the world's 4th largest city - in terms of land area, not population)?!
No? Shame on you!
Anyway, more importantly, Dunedin is home to both a Cadburys factory and Speights brewery....so we HAD to visit those! I'm still eating the chocolate that I brought at the factory shop. (Did you also know that NZ get a MUCH greater choice of Dairy Milk than we do at home? No, neither did I and I am very tempted to write to Mr Cadbury and ask why)!
Dunedin is also home to the world's steepest street - Baldwin St - which is indeed, steep! (There is apparently an annual race in which people RUN up it. b******s to that)!
Finally, Dunedin (well actually the Otago Peninsula) is ALSO home to the Royal Albatross (and the world's only mainland colony), so we got to see some baby albatross....they kind of looked like small white balls of fluff! Sadly we didn't get to see much other wildlife, even though the peninsula is famous for it's penguins, seals and sea lions. Still, the scenery was fantastic (again)!
