OK, I know absolutely nothing about surfing (and my one and only attempt at it was terrible), but who could pass up seeing the Quicksilver Pro surfing mens finals (especially when it's being held just down the road from your hostel)?? So we did! The surf wasn't great and we had to sometimes wait ages for any decent waves, but it was good fun. Some bloke called Kelly Slater won it (apparently he's the 8 times World Champion)!! The first day of our ROAD TRIP south to Melbourne, and boy is it going to be a quick trip - over 2000 kms to cover in 12 days!
