Ben and Marie's American Road Trip
Today we were heading off Route 66 and down south to Dallas, going to Gas Monkey Garage, in the hopes of seeing Richard Rawlings. Also we wanted to go to the Gas Monkey merchandise store too, me and Zac are big fans. I've watched Fast 'n' Loud with Marie too, so she knows who he is, and likes the show as well. Fingers were crossed. The drive down south was straightforward and all on one straight road, weather was warm again, and we got down there with no trouble. We had a KOA camp booked for the two nights, we were staying quite close to the centre of the city and really close to a huge mall too. But this we found out later, the first thing we did when we got to Dallas was to go to Gas Monkey, there was evidence on social media to suggest Richard was about at the garage. We took some photos at the garage and then went into the shop. After buying t-shirts for me and Zac, and also a car sticker, we headed back outside and basically just hung around. We were in luck, about 10 minutes later, the man himself came out!! He came out and said he was super busy, but had time for photos, naturally we jumped at the chance. We both had a photo with him and went on our way chuffed and slightly star struck. Zac is going to be furious. We headed on to the KOA to get ready, because we were going back to Gas Monkey, but the Bar and Grill tonight. We also found a post office to post a postcard for Marie. We set off for the bar and grill around 7, once we had set the tent up at the camp site for the stay that night. We got there and ordered, Marie had a chicken sandwich and I had braised beef, and we also had nachos to start. I had a big Miller Lite, taking after Richard. We really enjoyed our food, it was really impressive, well marie wasn't really sure on the bread or the sauce on the chicken, but she ate the chips. Then who should walk in, but Richard Rawlings, twice in one day we had seen him. Nothing personal this time though. We admired the rest of the bar and then left to go back to bed in camp. The bar was awesome, and you could see why it became a fast success He had a cigar machine that was the back of a van, a stage outside and all his buddies frequent the place too. Dream place to own if you ask me.
