Right we'll tell you now, Phuket and Koh Phi Phi we haven't done much during the days, its all about the night time, so don't expect to hear much cultural stuff over the next couple of blogs.
So after 12 hours of traveling on boats, minibuses and tuk tuks we arrived in Phuket at around midnight, we had heard that the strip in Phuket is a bit mental, and as we were dropped off just at the end of it we straight away found out the rumours were true. We had to walk right to the other end of the Bangla road which was about 600m long, even though we probably ended up walking about 800m as we had to weave in and out of the thousands of tourists, club promoters, prostitutes and ladyboys that were around. When we finally tracked down the hostel we checked in and went straight to bed as we still wasn't fully recovered from full moon, and a 12 hour day of traveling doesn't help either.
The next morning we woke up late morning and went for breakfast/lunch at an Italian restaurant, unfortunately not long after Tim was feeling a bit ill so we went back to the hostel so he could go to bed for a bit. Lloyd then decided to go and explore the town checking out the beach and the strip, and trying to find some better places to eat as the Italian we had earlier was quite pricey. After he got his bearings he settled in a small bar on the strip for a beer as he saw that there was an old Chelsea v West Ham game on, was a great game apart from the Hammers won 3-2, Di Canio and Zola banged away some worldies.
Lloyd then went back to the hostel to check on Tim who had just come downstairs to the lobby as Lloyd arrived. Tim was feeling a lot better and we were both up for getting ready to see what this crazy strip was all about! There are so many bars and clubs on the strip we had nowhere to go so we done the rounds around the hostel and found out the best places and the ones that aren't full of prostitutes are supposed to be White Rooms and Seduction. Seduction does a deal which is 1000Baht for 2 hours all you can drink, but we thought we would save that for Saturday night and check out White Room tonight. When we were getting ready in the dorm we got speaking to a Swedish girl who didn't have any plans so we invited her out with us. We started off in one of the small bars, but it was pretty bad so just had a bucket each in there and then went to find White Room. We got there quite early so wasn't very busy but then it started filling out and was actually quite a good night.
The next morningafternoon, whenever we woke up we got things booked up for the next few days. The first was our boat out of Koh Phi Phi for the Monday, the other was the Visa Run for the next day. When you arrive in Thailand you get a free 30 day visa, and if you out stay it you get charged 500Baht a day. We had heard that Kuala Lumpa isn't all that so we worked out we wanted to stay in Thailand another 9 days after our visa. The visa run cost us 1500Baht and that gets you a free breakfast and lunch in a 5* hotel so it's definitely worth it. After we booked them up we just had a beach day as we hadn't really topped our tans up for a while. The next morning we had to be up at 5.30AM so we stayed in and got an early night, there is a social area in the hostel where you can watch films, so we just stayed in there. There was quite a big group of us and we watched 'The Justin Bieber Movie' which was actually quite interesting believe it or not and 'Bad Grandpa' which had all of us in absolute stitches!
The next day was visa run day, so not a lot to tell you about really. We were supposed to leave the hostel at 6AM but the mini bus was about half hour late, which wasn't a good start. Then we drove for around 2 and a half hours before we stop at a small service station for breakfast, the breakfast wasn't the best, just rice with some dry chicken, but there was a 7 Eleven over the other side so we got ourselves a toastie as well. We then got back on the mini bus and drive for another 3 and a half hours to the Ranong border crossing which is the border between Thailand and Myanmar which is also known as Burma for some reason. Then we get our passports stamped out of the country get on a boat for half hour to Myanmar, get stamped into there, get back on the boat and stamp back into Thailand with another 30 day visa. It all seems pretty pointless to us. Then we got back on the minibus (nearly leaving one bloke behind) for the 6 hours back to the hostel. We stopped for lunch half way back at a 5* hotel which was actually pretty decent.
That night we planned to go to Seduction which is a big club that does 1000Baht (£19) all you can drink for 2 hours. So even if you get two buckets down you, you've made you're money back, we more than made our money back don't worry. Especially Lloyd as we watched Chelsea lose to Sunderland within these two hours so he was drinking his sorrows away. We stayed in Seduction for another couple of hours then went back to White Room for a bit.
The next day we basically slept most of the day again, (told you not to expect much in the days) before going to watch the Liverpool v Norwich game, we went with five 18 year old lads from Surrey. It was an important game for both of us in the title race but Liverpool won again, despite Norwich fighting back which got Lloyd a little bit excited but nowhere near as excited as Tim and a couple of the others after the win.
A couple of people have told us about a place called Suzy Wongs in Phuket that sounded funny, so we told the other lads about it and they seemed keen as well. None of us planned to go out properly that night but that was soon to change. So we all went back to the hostel and got changed, before heading to Suzy Wongs. As soon as we went in the door we realised that what we had heard about it was true. Basically it is a strip club, with 4 strippers on a stage in the middle, and loads of foam poles dotted around. Your probably getting an idea of what happens now. So after we all got a drink each we armed ourselves with a foam pole and sit around the stage, then you pretty much start whacking them with these foam poles. Once you hit them they turn around and say 'you're turn', grab the pole of you, lean you over pull you're top up and whack you about 20 times about 10 times as hard as you've whacked them, they have a good technique. We stayed in there for one drink and a lot of laughs before deciding to check out White Rooms for a bit, and then after a bucket that's it, we were out for the long haul. We introduced these young lads to their first bucket, and they loved it, especially one who completely over done it. We found him leaning over some railings later that night and had to carry him back. In the morning it turned out he actually wet the bed that night haha! Safe to say the next morning when we all had to get the boat to Phi Phi we were in a bad, bad way, it did make the journey a lot more entertaining though.
