Tim, Lloyd and Ricks boat to Krabi was at 1 o'clock the next day. Sam wasn't joining us as he is really close with Hannah so they went to spend one more night together in Koh Lanta before he met up with Rick again to go to Bali. This is when we had to say goodbye to Georgie, Kelly and Charlotte, we have spent more time with these three than anyone else on the trip so we have had some really good times, and we most likely won't see them again. We are in New Zealand at the same time as Charlotte and Kelly but probably not in the same places and Georgie is going home next week.
After all the goodbyes we set off to Krabi which is mainland Thailand but still on the coast, there are two parts to Krabi, Krabi Town and Au Nang Beach, and shock we went to the wrong place first trying to find our hostel. We ended up finally in Au Nang. After basically 7 nights out in a row we all agreed to chill out that night and stay in the hostel. It was one of the best hostels we have stayed in, even got a complimentary blackcurrant on arrival. Its brand new so they are doing a promotion for 300Baht a night, which is what we were paying in Phi Phi which was nothing special. It had a nice lobby area with a flat screen TV and was really quiet so we just sat there all afternoon and evening and watched three full games of football, just cause we're lads! As we went to bed we had to say our goodbyes to Rick as he was off to Kuala Lumpa at 5.30am to catch a flight to Bali for his birthday. He is sorting his flights out so that we will hopefully both all be in Auckland at the same time to watch the opening England world cup game on 15th June.
The next day was 'sort our life out' day. As it's a lot cheaper to sort our lives out in Thailand than in Singapore or New Zealand. Tim had to get a haircut, and fix his phone screen as Kelly smashed it in Phi Phi, Lloyd had to find a dentist as he needed a filling and we both had to restock on toiletries and print off our boarding passes for our flight to Singapore. We split up so we could sort out our own stuff, Tim got his hair cut while Lloyd tried three different 'Health and Dental Clinics' only to find there are no dentists in Au Nang until the 6th of May which was obviously too late. They told him he had to go to Krabi Town. As he was walking back to the hostel he luckily bumped into Tim, who was also told he needed to go to Krabi Town to get his phone fixed. We started asking tuk tuk drivers how much it would be to get there and they all wanted 500Baht each way, we didn't fancy that paying that much then had a light bulb moment. 'Let's see how much it is to rent a moped, 200Baht later we have a moped for 24 hours. Saving us 800Baht. The moped came in really handy as we had to drive Round Krabi town for a bit trying to find dentists and phone shops! We found a phone shop fairly quickly with a 50Baht pay off to a local motor bike taxi. Then we set about finding a dentist, we found 4 or 5 but with it being a Sunday they were all closed. One of them had opening times on and it was open the next day between 5 and 8PM, weird times I know! We then rode the bike to Au Nang as we wanted to get back for the big game, Liverpool v Chelsea. We chilled out in the hostel for a bit before heading out to try and find somewhere with a bit of atmosphere, in the end we found an Irish bar with loads of TVs and a big screen and a bit of an atmosphere. I think we will both agree it was the most tension that we have ever had between us, we hardly said a word all game, apart from 'Do you want another beer?'. After the game and a lot of pints about half way through the City v Palace game we were talking again, then after the match we went to get a Burger King and head back to the hostel. But on the way back to the hostel we had a second wind and decided to go into another small bar and have one more beer, it was really weird, we were the only two in the place, we ended up playing Jenga, Dominoes and then doubles pool with the two Thai girls that were working in there, very surreal but a laugh all the same.
The next day once again we slept in until about 1 ish, Clara and Hannah were coming to Krabi today and they were staying in a nice hotel with a pool, so we snuck into their pool area and chilled with them for a few hours until Lloyd left to go to Krabi Town again to the dentist. He rented a moped again this time only for 150Baht as he was a returning customer. After a long wait in the waiting room, he was called in the job was done, surprisingly, really professionally and only cost him 800Baht which is about 15 quid, the same thing cost him£120 in England! He wasn't going to go as it is a bit of a mission to Krabi Town and still no guarantee it would get done but Tim talked him into it and Lloyd is glad he did now!
Later that night we went and met up with the girls, had a nice meal then went to check out a place called central beach where the girls had been told was the place to go out. We found it and it was still pretty poor but we got drunk and made the most of it. We had to hang around in one bar for ages though due to yet another massive storm. We ended up in a bar with a really good Thai band that sung English songs really well which was quite good.
