We got off the ferry about 6pm in Wellington and headed to Base hostel to park in their car park. Then we used the hostels facilities to cook dinner and have a shower etc. It was Wednesday night which is student night here and one of the cheapest and best nights to go out… so we thought we may as well! We started in the hostel bar and had a few games of pool before heading up the road into the city where we spent the rest of the night.

Next morning we got up made breakfast then began the four hour drive to Taupo. We were heading back up to Auckland but stopped in Wellington and Taupo to break the journey up. Taupo was another place that had a hostel which allows you to park in their car park and use all the facilities, so we did that again. This works out cheaper than paying for a site in a campsite and means you are near everything and obviously can meet other travellers in the hostel too.

Not fancying another night out, we decided to have a romantic man-date! We hadn't been out for a proper meal in ages so we went to a Mexican restaurant for a nice dinner, then went to the cinema after. Afterwards we just got an early night ready to drive another 4 hours to Auckland the next day.
