Today was the first of 2 full days travelling! We chose the 2 days trip (1 day by road 1 day by boat) rather than the 3 day (1 day road 2 days boat).
We woke and and grabbed a quick breakfast before we were picked up. We assumed we would get a mini bus to the bus terminal and get on a coach - we were wrong. 6 hours on a mini bus through windy mounting roads, not the most comfortable bus we've had but definitely the best view ( no picture would do it justice). We arrived to the Thai boarder, clocked out and was scammed into getting a taxi for the 2 second journey to the Laos boarder office. After some form filling and paying for our visa we were finally stamped into Laos. Another mini bus, this time not enough seats for people so really cosy, to our accommodation for tonight. After a quick drop of the bags and a freshen up we walked down to the restraunt for dinner. By this point we had been speaking to a Canadian couple on our bus and ended up playing cards and having a few beers with them after dinner!
We then walked back to our room and got some sleep as another early start tomorrow, as we drive to Pakbeng to catch the slow boat!
