Tonight we had the bus at 8pm so we had the day to fill - we checked out at 12 and spent the morning have a rest and sorting a few things out - this afternoon we headed back to S-21 as we wanted to see the film that we couldn't make the other day - it was just as haunting seeing it the second time. We wandered around a few of the rooms until it was time to watch the film- this was composed of real life stories from family members, one of the survivors and one of the guards! The film focused mainly on the time before the genocide, when everyone was forced out the city and out into forced labour! This gave us even more appreciation for what this country has been through and was a sad but thought provoking end to our time
In Cambodia - we are now travelling to Bangkok for the Thai new year festival, Songkran!
In true SE Asian style our bus was late and we were told that we had booked a sitting bus - however after Hana scared the office staff we were eventually put on the right bus and were on our way to Bangkok. This sleeper bus was by far the most interesting as they had
Managed to fit two levels of beds in the space of a single deck bus! This made the bottom bunk (which we had) resemble a coffin! Funnily enough Hana did not sleep well - we finally arrived at Poi Pet boarder crossing around 11am, after a long wait for the visas we jumped on a full mini bus and headed out for another 3 hour trip. I will continue this on tomorrow's blog - Songkran here we come!
