We woke up roasty toasty in our tent again today, thanks to our thermal floor heating!! its like having an electric blanket on constant, a-mazing! After breakfast we took a stroll down to the hot water beach behind our campsite, which looked out on the Lake Rotorua. The view over the lake was really scenic, with black swans gliding over the surface. The beach itself was a bit of a disappointment however. You're supposed to dig a hole for yourself and sit in it, the water heated up by the thermal activity below. The sand was really mucky though, so we decided we'd rather not smother ourselves in it for the sake of sitting in a hot, egg smelling sandpit! Instead we retired to the pool back at the campsite.
After another bbq for lunch (yes, we're chub chubs!) we headed out to the skyline gondolas which ascend Mount Ngongotaha. We got an amazing view over the city and Lake Rotorua. The best part of going up the hill, however, was taking the luge ride back down!! Go-karts for people of all ages, speeding down the side of a mountain :) Was such good fun, I could've stayed there all day.
In the evening we went to the Pig and Whistle pub, which had a selection of home-brewed beers to keep a smile on Ben's face, and cider to keep a smile on mine! We also had the most amazing fish and chips, with curly pigs tail fries ofcourse!! Highly recommended!
